Stories of Yardley's Hill

Thursday, June 25 • 7:30 p.m.
Old Library by Lake Afton
46 West Afton Avenue, Yardley

Last year we planned a Mt. Concordia walking tour, but soon learned that walking up a steep hill isn’t too popular, so now we’ll share the stories at a program at the Old Library.

Yardley’s low-lying stretch along the Delaware River gets a lot of attention, but the high ground west of South Main Street not so much .  What is commonly know today as  “College Avenue Hill” has many a story.

Quarrying was done here, industry flourished, ” Yardley Heights” and “Mt. Concordia” were among its names, it is the site of the town’s school, its growth was spurred by the advent of US Steel and the Baby Boom, and the sledding tales are derring-do.

Find out about delusions of grandeur and some different aspects of town.
