What's in the Name "Yardley?"
Who were the Yardleys?

46 West Afton Avenue, Yardley
Would you like to know how our town got its name? Historian Charlie Thomforde has the answers.
Moving English families thousands of miles over the ocean. Uncertain ocean travel. Putting down new roots. An epidemic. And the vision and energy of one immigrant, who guaranteed that his family name would persist over the centuries.
The convoluted story will be told by Charlie, and he will display three of the original 17th century purchase document that were contributed to the Yardley Historical Association by a Yardley family descendent.
The public is invited to the program, and it is free of charge. Donations are always appreciated.
