A Not-Too-Haunting Canal Walking Tour + Canal-O-Ween
Hear tales of mischief and see the jack-o-lanterns.
Tuesday, October 29 • 3:30 p.m.
Meet at the intersection of Morgan and Fuld Avenues, Yardley
Stories of snapping turtles, watermelon napping, an Underground Railroad connection, a flood escape route, and how Yardley grew when the Delaware Canal was opened through town in 1831 will be told by Susan Taylor on a one-mile stroll down the Delaware Canal towpath and North and South Edgewater Avenues.
A Halloween treat will be a view of Canal-O-Ween, Yardley’s now famous lineup of hundreds of creatively carved pumpkins. All the jack-o-lantern details can better be seen in the daylight, the street isn’t crowded, and the legion of volunteers, who light the candles, may be at work during the stroll.
A $10 per person donation is requested. Reservations are required. To make yours, please e-mail nfo@yardleyhistory.org. or call 215-208-1154.
