Mt. Concordia Walking Tour

Up the hill we'll go
Thursday, June 26 • 2 p.m.
The walk will start at the Old Library by Lake Afton
46 West Afton Avenue, Yardley
Yardley’s low-lying sections along the Delaware River get a lot of attention, but the high ground west of South Main Street not so much.
What is commonly known today as “College Avenue Hill” has many a story. Quarrying was done here, industry flourished, “Yardley Heights” and “Mt. Concordia” were among its names. It is the site of the town’s schoool, its growth was spurred by the advent of US Steel and the Baby Boomers, and its sledding tales are daring do.
Join Susan Taylor for a 1-1/2 mile walk from the Old Library, down South Main Street, up College Avenue, and then back to the Old Library via Cadwallader Court to learn some new wrinkles in the history of our town.
Reservations are required. Please make yours at info@yardleyhistory.org or 215-208-1154. A $10 per person contribution is requested.
