Fine Dining on the Rails
Be Introduced to Pullman Car Dining in Its Heyday
Sunday, March 10 • 3 p.m.
Old Library by Lake Afton
46 West Afton Avenue, Yardley
Join local food historian Becky Libourel Diamond, author of The Gilded Age Cookbook, for a trip back to the late 1800’s and the glorious days of fine dining aboard a luxurious Pullman train car.
Becky will discuss how and why the elaborate Pullman cars changed the game for rail travel and what it was like to partake of a meal in such a sumptuous moving dining room.
Samples of treats of the era, featured in The Gilded Age Cookbook will be served by Becky, so that your tastebuds can go back in time, too. Copies of Becky’s books will be available for purchase at a discount.
A $5 per person donation is requested for this program, and reservations are necessary.
